On Friday 3rd March Year 1 had the opportunity to go on a trip to Sir Harry Smith Community College. At the College the children took part in a Circus Skills Festival. During the morning the children were split into groups and rotated around 7 different circus skills activities. These included peacock feathers, flower sticks, juggling balls and scarves, diablo, ribbons and pedal boards. At each station two Year 12 Young Leaders took charge of the activity. All the children had a brilliant time learning new activities, being physically active and having fun.

It was great to participate in the Straw Bear Parade again this year after the enforced break. Even a torrential downpour did little to dampen the spirits as a number of children from School participated, including Eve R as the 'Little Bear' and George and Henry I supporting the pulling of the plough.
U11 Girls ESFA Pokemon Cup Football Qualifier On Friday 13th January AJS took a team of year 5/6 girls to the U11 Girls ESFA Pokemon Cup Football Qualifier at Witchford Village College. The tournament was played on a round robin basis. The girls worked extremely well together passing the ball, creating space and scoring goals. They had a mixture of results winning and drawing most of their games. I was very impressed with the children’s excellent sportsmanship and teamwork. Well done to all the players that took part, you were a pleasure to take and excellent ambassadors for AJS.
The Early Years children had a fantastic time in the planetarium on Friday, which was kindly funded by FOAJS. They learnt about nocturnal animals, dark and light, and even looked at the starry night sky, with some star constellations. The children had so much fun and were keen to share their knowledge. Thank you FOAJS for an amazing experience!

Year 3 have been scientists this term, investigating rocks. Our big question for the topic was ‘Do rocks last forever?’ To help with answering the question we walked to the cemetery to see how some sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks have weathered over time. We decided that rocks do not last forever but show signs of weathering. Some rocks, like granite, weather more slowly than others, like limestone. The children showed a great understanding of rocks and used their scientific thinking to deepen their understanding.
